Kai Aide meets the Presidency of the Assembly of Kosovo

The special delegate of Secretary General of UN on standard estimation, Kai Aide today met the President of the Assembly, Nexhat Daci and with the Presidency of the Assembly in which meeting participated all members of Presidency (including as well the representative of LSKM, Oliver Ivanoviq), in order to get additional information on progressing of legislation work of the country in a function of the fulfillment of standards for Kosovo.

Successful progress of the Assembly of Kosovo

The President of the Parliament Daci has expressed the successful progress of the Assembly of Kosovo during the first and second legislature in the plan of laws™ adoption but has emphasized the delay of signing them by the Special Representative of Secretary General of UN in Kosovo and the difficulties of their implementation. Meanwhile Daci has said that matters are well going with the arrival of Mr. Petersen.

Positive discrimination for minorities

Talking about the position of ethnic communities in Kosovo, especially the Serb one, the Head of Legislature of the country has mentioned their positive discrimination. From 20 seats in Parliament reserved for minorities, 10 belong to Serbs said Daci who added that one of two main parliamentary committees is lead by Serbs and from ten committees of the Assembly, in four of them they have the post of vice chairperson.

Then he exposed that all deputies talk in their own mother tongue, but emphasized the fact that translations are not always on satisfaction level. 

About equal use of languages

Not only have to wish the equal use of languages in the Assembly of Kosovo, Aide had mentioned as argument that his name was written in one language (only Albanian) and his function totally wrong.

Daci responded that he™s not satisfied with the quality of language employees of the Assembly but added that 90 percent of civil staff of the Assembly of Kosovo were employed by OSCE and UNMIK even way before the beginning of functioning of the Assembly.

Multi-ethnicity and experts

The special delegate of Secretary General of UN for standard estimation, Kai Aide wanted to know more about the accomplishment of multi-ethnicity in institutions and employment of professional and nonpolitical staff in the Assembly of Kosovo. He even added that in this plan can help more the international community and emphasized that we should be careful on working to built upon strong foundations.

To listen other voices

Aide has emphasized that the policy discretion of a country can not be measured only by counting of votes but by listening and taking in account other voices, even be them from minorities.

To end successfully the mission of UNMIK

The President of the Assembly has stated that only international short term missions have chances for success and has insisted that the mission of international community to end successfully in Kosovo.

In this meeting have spoken as well the members of the Presidency Ivanoviq and Murati exposing mainly the difficulties of the community which they represent, meanwhile other members because of the short time of the meeting couldn™t take the floor.
