The Directorate for Research, Library and Archives is responsible for:
a. Providing legislative research services from professional literature, the legislation of the states of the region, the best practices of the EU member states, Internet, databases and official statistics for all matters related to the work of the Assembly
b. Providing legislative research services on the request of MPs and bodies or working bodies of the Assembly (in accordance with the Administrative Instruction on the scope and work rules of the Directorate for Research, Library and Archives), which include: research reports, political analysis and comparative analysis, information and memos
c. ensuring the provision of the most professional services by the research service, respecting the principle of professionalism, confidentiality and political impartiality
d. Drafting of annual reports and final reports on the work of the Assembly, after receiving the reports from the relevant Directorates, the General Directorate for Legal and Procedural Affairs, as well as other Directorates
e. organization and providing quality services related to library activities, including provision of reading literature, identification and systematization of the library fund, purchase and provision of books and magazines
f. Creation and maintenance of the database for the members of the Assembly, according to the legislation
g. archiving of archival material of the Assembly, in accordance with the Law on archives, the Law on archiving of archival material as well as by-laws issued for this purpose
h. Provision of copies of archived documents, in accordance with the Law on access to official documents and other legislation in force
